Why “MP4 cannot Play on Samsung Galaxy S4/S3/S2/Tab/Note/Ace”

Several special MP4 videos will not be played as MP4 is a container video format which may encode with a variety of codecs like H.264, MPEG-4, Xivd, DivX, MPEG-4 ASP etc. or with subtitles or multi-channel audio tracks. Any idea what format is best for the Samsung galaxy tab 2 10.1 (gt-s5110)?
Hi Richard. Thanks for your comment. The highest resolution Samsung galaxy tab 2 10.1 (gt-s5110) supported is 720p. So, if your source videos are HD videos at 720p or 1080p or above resolution, in order to get best image quality, choose “HD H.264/MPEG-4 AVC Video(*.mp4″ from “HD video” category. Then click “Settings” to open the “Profile Settings” Windows. In the “Video Settings” section, set the resolution to “1280*720p”.
if your source videos are stand videos, choose “H.264/MPEG-4 AVC Video(*.mp4)” from “General Video” category.
Hope you’re still monitoring this. Will this app work with a avi file or do I have to find another app to convert to mp4 first.
ScottW, this program works for AVI files and also MKV, WMV, FLV, MOV and many other popular video formats files, you do not nee to download other app.
Right – The MP4 format is compatible with everything except these new Samsung devices, which are designed *SPECIFICALLY* to *not* play back this format except under certain circumstances. Never mind that every other platform can….what’s the word I’m looking for….”handle” all the other permutations?
So MP4 is good enough for everything except Samsung devices.
Hmmmmmmmm – you know what? Instead of re-compiling my entire MP4 library, I think I’ll just buy a different device. This is a no-brainer.
Brilliant strategy, Samsung! I was just thinking the other day- I thought to myself, “Self, we need more devices that refuse to accept whatever content we have accumulated over the last 20 years.” And POOF! Here comes Samsung riding in to fill that gaping void in the marketplace.
I hope this works! In the installer dont forget to uncheck ASK boxes!
Your Welcome

Shame on you Samsung. I’ll buy another brand before I’ll download and install a special program to play my video’s properly.
